WASHINGTON, DC., April 7th, 2025 – SIECUS: Sex Ed for Social Change appeared in an article by the University of Michigan’s student-run newspaper, The Michigan Daily, titled Five bills to watch in the Michigan state legislature: March 2025. Savannah Halpern quoted president and CEO, Christine Soyong Harley (She/Her).
In response to the SB119, introduced in March and paving the way for inaccurate fetal development education through Live Action’s discredited “Meet Baby Olivia” video, Halpern referenced Harley’s statement condemning Tennessee’s Baby Olivia Bill: “This isn’t sex education, this is a disinformation campaign designed to brainwash young children and force an out-of-touch and wildly unpopular regressive and false reproductive agenda in the public education system, using anti-abortion, anti-science propaganda about fetal development.”
