Abstinence-only programs have such a bad rap that proponents have attempted a rebrand. Don’t let the new public-health-sounding name, “Sexual Risk Avoidance (SRA)” fool you. These are the same shaming, inaccurate lessons that decades of research show simply do not work. And yet, these programs have received over $2.2 billion in federal funding to date.
