Support Sex Ed For All. Support REHYA and YASHS.
TWO BILLS, ONE GOAL: Sex Ed For ALL.
Congress needs to support the reintroduction of The Real Education for Healthy Youth Act & The Youth Access to Sexual Health Services Act.
Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) and Congresswoman Barbara Lee (D-CA-13) are introducing the Real Education for Healthy Youth Act (REHYA), legislation that supports the health and well-being of young people by providing them with the comprehensive sex education they need to make informed and healthy decisions throughout their lives. REHYA would create the first-ever federal funding stream for comprehensive sex education and ensure no federal dollars go toward harmful, ineffective abstinence-only programs.
Senator Mazie K. Hirono (D-HI) and Congresswoman Alma Adams (D-NC-12) are once again introducing the Youth Access to Sexual Health Services Act (YASHS), legislation that would provide grants to increase and improve the linkage and access of marginalized young people to sexual and reproductive health care and related services. YASHS would break down the insurmountable barriers that prevent far too many young people from receiving vital sexual and reproductive health care.
This month, we are also observing the first-ever Sex Ed For All Month. In doing so, we are steering national attention toward the fact that, right now, too many young people fail to learn the sex education they not only need, but have a right to receive. The passage of REHYA and YASHS can help to make Sex Ed For All a reality.
That’s why we are calling on Congress to pass REHYA and YASHS. And we’re asking you to tell them the same.
