What is a Donor-Advised Fund?
A donor-advised fund (DAF) is a charitable investment vehicle that offers immediate tax deductions and allows your contribution to grow tax-free until you are ready to recommend grants to SIECUS and other qualified charities. This makes DAFs a strategic tool for donors who want both flexibility and impact over time.
You can support SIECUS and the movement for comprehensive sex ed today by recommending a one-time or recurring grant through your DAF sponsor. You can use the DAF Widget to find your fund and process your gift immediately:
If your fund is not listed, share the following information with your DAF administration to recommend a grant:
Legal Name: Sexuality Information & Education Council of the United States, Inc. (DBA: SIECUS)
Address: 4315 50th St. NW, Suite 100, PMB #4605, Washington, D.C., 20016
Phone: (202) 265-2405 (ext. 3)
Email: development@siecus.org
Federal Tax ID Number: 13-2508249
If you make a contribution to SIECUS from your DAF, we’d love to thank you personally. After submitting your grant request, please let us know at development@siecus.org with the name of your fund, name of issuing institution, grant or reference number, gift amount, and date of submission so we can confirm your gift.
Legacy Giving with a Donor-Advised Fund
You can also create a lasting legacy by naming SIECUS as the beneficiary of all or a portion of the remaining assets in your fund upon your passing. A succession plan with your DAF sponsor can recommend that all or a portion of the remaining funds in your DAF go to SIECUS or other causes important to you upon your passing.
If you are interested in naming SIECUS as a successor beneficiary, please reach out to our donor services team. We would love to thank you for your support and welcome you to the Culture Shift Circle.
How it works
- Establish a DAF at a sponsoring organization. This could be a community foundation, a public charity with a DAF program, or even one of the well-known financial services companies that sponsor DAFs. Check with the sponsor about the minimum contribution required to start a donor-advised fund.
- Make an initial contribution to start your fund. You can contribute cash or appreciated assets such as stocks or mutual funds. You can get an immediate income tax charitable deduction for your contribution.
- Once established, you can recommend your favorite public charities, such as SIECUS, to receive grants from your DAF.
